Oula Peñate Medina is residing bio-, nano-chemist in the Section of Biomedical Imaging in the Department of Radiology and Neuroradiology at University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein University of Kiel.
He takes care of the formulation, surface chemistry and labeling of the various nanoparticles. He obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki, Finland in 2004. Since then he has worked in clinical nanotechnology and imaging companies. During 2007-2010 he worked as post-doc in New York in the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
There and in his previous positions Mr. Peñate Medina has developed highly innovative and novel drug delivery platforms (targeted and activated nanoparticles) for the delivery of diagnostic agents and therapeutic drugs. Mr. Penate Medina has developed an expertise in molecular imaging, nanotechnology, coupling chemistry and translational radiochemistry.
He has several patents and patent applications and is an author of numerous research articles in scientific journals having over 1000 citations and the summed impact factors of the journals he publishes precedes hundred. One of the previous nano-formulations he worked (C-dot) is now in the clinical trials at MSKCC.
